A representative survey commissioned by Swedbank in early 2023 revealed that two out of five Lithuanians consider high heating and electricity bills to be the biggest drawbacks of their housing. With more than 90% of dwellings in Lithuania built before 1993 and characterized by low energy efficiency, sustainable housing solutions have become an urgent concern.
Residents lacked a single, comprehensive source of information on how to save resources and money when buying, renovating, or living in their homes. Recognizing this gap, Swedbank developed the Sustainable Homes Guide, a platform that consolidates practical, expert-backed advice in an accessible and engaging format.
Designed as an interactive website, the guide allows users to explore a virtual house and its surroundings, clicking on objects of interest to access short facts and in-depth articles tailored to their needs. This format blends practicality with a comfortable, slightly gamified user experience.
The launch of the Sustainable Homes Guide was supported by a broad communication campaign, which included press releases discussing survey results and the guide's solutions, social media posts featuring key insights and calculations, a series of humorous video tips with actor Artūras Svorobovičius shared on Instagram and TikTok, and Instagram galleries summarizing the guide’s main themes and recommendations.
The campaign generated over 1.1 million impressions and 6,000 engagement actions across various content platforms. The guide’s website featured 18 expertly written, data-driven texts covering essential aspects of home buying, renovation, and sustainability. The engaging and interactive format made it easy for visitors to explore relevant topics while dispelling the myth that sustainability is expensive.
Through this initiative, Swedbank successfully provided residents with a valuable tool for making smarter, more sustainable housing decisions, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and financial well-being.
