In 2023, Swedbank launched a low-budget campaign, Arnold Advises, aimed at organically growing its Instagram and TikTok audiences while simplifying financial topics through engaging and relatable content.
The campaign’s central figure was Arnold, a humorous and approachable character portrayed by Artūras Svorobovičius, an actor from Vilnius Old Theatre. Arnold provided financial advice in a light-hearted and entertaining manner, drawing inspiration from world-famous TV series personas to make the content more recognizable and appealing.
To enhance the campaign’s authenticity, Swedbank incorporated clever and funny financial tips shared by members of its award-winning Facebook group Pinigai ir reikalai. These user-generated insights were adapted into short, engaging videos that resonated with the audience.
The campaign revolved around Instagram Reels and TikTok videos, filmed in a relatable “household” style to foster a stronger connection with viewers. Over the course of the campaign, 21 videos were produced, showcasing financial advice in an entertaining and accessible format.
Despite a minimal advertising budget, the results were outstanding:
• Nearly 2 million views on Instagram and TikTok
• Over 18,000 reactions and engagements
• More than 600 new followers across both platforms
The audience praised the campaign’s witty approach and appreciated Swedbank’s efforts to make financial topics both relatable and entertaining, reinforcing the bank’s reputation as approachable and customer-focused.
